There are over 781, 000, 000 results when you type leadership into the search engine. Whether it is leading a classroom, coaching a football game, or governing a state, most individuals have been in leadership role at some point in their life. While some leaders are thrust into their roles, others are more willing to take on a new leadership role. One thing remains true; there is no one and only way to lead. However, for the past few decades leadership theories have evolved and been the source of many studies. The trait theory, similar to the "Great Man" theory, believes that individuals inherit certain qualities when they are born, thus resulting in the common expression, "leaders are born, not made." According to Northouse, Vision is identified as one of the four major factors that account for extraordinary leadership performance. Charismatic leaders create change by linking their vision and its values to the self-concept of followers (p. 150) In Transformational Leadership, authors Bass and Riggio described: "Transformational leaders...are those who stimulate and inspire followers to both achieve extraordinary outcomes and, in the process, develop their own leadership capacity." This plays a major role in school systems today. While educational leaders wear many "hats" they can sometimes be stretched too thin. "Transformational leaders help followers grow and develop into leaders by responding to individual followers' needs by empowering them and by aligning the objectives and goals of the individual followers, the leader, the group, and the larger organization" (Bass, 2008). When developing the leadership skills of others at your school, leaders are building trust and instilling confidence, which then increases motivation and a desire to continue impacting

    Since the early 1980s, there has been an explosion of interest on transformational leadership among scholars and managers. It is shown with evidence that the desire and effectiveness of transformational leadership style are universal (Den Hartog, et al., 1999, and Bass, et al. 2006).
