There is already a number of laws against discrimination of sex/gender in schools and workplaces. Transgender people are currently protected under Title IX of the Education Amendment that state's schools can not discriminate based on someone's sex (Pellieschi 38). Having a teenager use the faculty bathroom because they are different than most other girls and boys is discrimination that should not be happening, because of Title IX. They should be allowed to use whatever restroom they would prefer in their schools; it is a simple right. “...transgender people who are discriminated against in the workplace are protected under Title VII of the Federal Civil Rights Act of 1964, which prohibits discrimination based on sex” (Currah). Discrimination is saying no you can not use that bathroom, you are transgender and are to use this restroom or none at all. Over two hundred companies and 60 colleges/universities now have developed new policies to include gender identity in their formal anti-discrimination policies
