My goal today is to instill the need for transgender rights into the youth of our nation. The National percentage of trans students that feel unsafe at school today is 75% and the percentage of trans people and gender nonconforming people that have attempted suicide is 41%. Thats a very high number compared to the national average of 4.6% of attempted suicide. The Reason I brought this up is because, the national average of trans students who have attempted suicide should be nearing zero because trans students shouldn’t be afraid to go to school, and while some students are able to get through the initial fear of going to school, it is often shown that trans students have a lower GPA than most people and missed many school days because they were worried for their safety. For a while now transgendered people have been labeled with multiple mental disorders like gender identity disorder and Gender Dysphoria.
