Drink driving incidents are the leading cause of death for teenagers in Australia. At one point Terri says that “the second i feel like i'm enjoying myself, i think how can you be having a good time when Paul is dead?”. The use of juxtaposition between past and present demonstrates the struggle that Terri is going through. This shot is seen through a high angle camera shot, which highlights Terri’s feelings of vulnerability and being afraid. All this suggests to us that transitions are not easy, they are challenging and take time to adjust to.
The music in Raise Your Voice is significant to showing how Terri has undergone a change in her life. ‘Someone’s Watching over Me’ is a song that is sung by Terri and the lyrics help to convey her emotion. Terri no longer wants to “give up” and will “be strong even if it all goes wrong”. This demonstrates Terri’s development in her attitude from her experience to overcome her challenge.
