History of Tourism
The term travel and tourism is certainly not a new phenomenon, people have been travelling for centuries because of their work. In earliest time and approximately toward the end of the 16th century, people where living in agricultural communities moving from local area and rural community. However as industrialization got under way, leisure time or holidays where existed tends to increase (Lickorish, Jenkins, 1997).
Before the 1950s, tourism was an industry which was inconsistent; hotels, transport operators, tour operators, travel agents, all tended to work separately. Thomas Cook set up the first package holiday in 1841, the popularity of cheap excursion fares for special events was not expected.
In 1980s several airlines were offering full travel services such as arrangements for holidays, medical services, hiring car, etc. In 1990 the information of the tourism industry, especially in the UK and Europe, was affected by the development of a number of very big companies.Air travel improves even more rapidly as years pass by; tourism has make important contribution to the global economic development in this 21st century. The cultural trade and understanding that is brought about through tourism is causing a more peaceful and internationalized universal society. Beside it contribution to expansion and renovation of local economies and their communities, the development of tourism is playing a vital role in both enhancing education and improving the position of the tourism business aimed at nurturing the next generation of those
