Treacher Collins disease is a condition in which the facial features of one are not completely formed. Seeming how the bones and facial features are not fully developed, the person could have respiratory difficulties. Treacher Collins is not a disease that a person can catch during the span of your life. This condition is caused when there is a mutation in the TCOF/ POLRID genes. The symptoms or features of this disease make one have small ears, or, no ears, small cheekbones, or no cheekbones at all, limited opening of the mouth, holes or openings in the roof of the mouth, downward positioned eyes, and a wide mouth. And seeming how a person with the disease cannot open their mouth very wide, it is hard for them to take down food. So, they often times have to watch their weight. This condition is also very uncommon or rare. It only occurs in an estimated amount of 1-2 people in 50,000 different people. With the facts listed, I believe that this disease is a negative factor in one’s life because of the dangers that it could put upon somebody, and when one sexually reproduces with this disease, it can increase the numbers of people to get it. All in all, Treacher Collins disease is a mutation in certain genes that can affect respiratory problems and can affect one’s appearance. And since this disease is completely genetic, it cannot be solved so very easy. With that, I believe that the disease is not completely severe, but still is not a positive
