In fact one of Duck Commanders largest accounts today laughed him out of the building when he first came to them with the idea. Without his family however the business would not have done as well as it has. His family helped him with packaging and shipping along with running the nets and taking the fish to the markets. The family side business of commercial fishing kept food on the table while the main Duck Commander Company was getting off the ground.
In high school Phil was All-State football, baseball, and track which gave him the opportunity to play with a football scholarship at Louisiana Tech University as a star quarterback over Terry Bradshaw. He turned down multiple offers from the NFL including from the Washington Redskins because it interfered with duck season. Phil even said, “Terry went for the bucks, and I chased after the ducks.”
Even though he is now mostly known for his show on A&E network, Duck Dynasty, Phil had his Bachelor’s degree in physical education and his Master’s in education. He taught for four years and was said to be an excellent teacher. He quit being a teacher because he believed his time would be better spent not in a classroom but in the woods. The show Duck Dynasty first aired on the 18th of January 2010. Today they have sales not only in all 50 states of this great nation but all around the world with the Duck Commander’s handmade to perfection duck
