Political environments and many other external factors play a role in what trends are hot in business and human resources. We will look at the sectors of training, performance management and career management. Within each sector, we will look at current trends in the industry and finish by looking at what is the largest trend to impact Interactions Marketing.
Training
We will first look at training and discuss three specific trends that are affecting the training within organization for 2013. In SHRM’s article, Seven Trends Expected to Influence Training in 2013, they identify tighter budgets, higher employee expectations and globalization for the trends that follow.
Demand for basic skills training is expected to re-emerge The first trend to take shape in 2013 is the “Demand for basic skills training is expected to re-emerge” (Seven, 2012). By this, the authors are talking about how many companies are now focusing on providing training to employees that “get back to the basics” if you will. They are focusing on training employees on things like effective communication, conflict resolution and management skills. The reason for this trend is due to the reviving economy that we are currently in (Seven, 2012). While we were deep in the recession, basic programs took a back seat to the more important strategic trainings. High unemployment also means that companies were able to hire on more qualified applicants, many applicants who already had these skills.
