It then continues to Mr. Hale telling his side of the story when he discovered Mr.Wright dead. He stated that when he entered, he found Mrs.Wright “rockin’ back and forth.” This demonstrates that Mrs.Wright was trying to sooth herself and keep her life together. She then is asked by Mr.Hale where Mr.Wright was and she responds that Mr.Hale cannot see him “Cause he’s dead,” and “He died of a rope round his neck.” The man is dead from death by a rope describing that men’s complete control came to an end due to the fact that women became tired of being dominated completely by men. She the also stated that it was not her. When she awoke, in the morning, she found him hung and dead. According to her, she is a sound sleeper and did not feel when he was hung and murdered. This relates to the awakening of a new horizon, a new horizon in which women will be at peace with themselves. The county attorney then advanced to the rest of the house to see for himself of any evidence that he could find. Before he leaves the kitchen he comments on how much of a mess it was and about how it was not tidy with the towels messed up.
