Teacher’s Guide
Description This Teacher Support Material is designed to provide the students a concrete understanding of the coordinates of the special angles and the quadrantal angles through recreational mathematics. This is done after the discussion of the unit circle.
Rationale Students find circular function a difficult topic. Trigo Bingo Ta Bay is a recreational mathematics which addresses the needs of the students in terms of determining the coordinates of the special angles and the quadrantal angles which is then the basic in the study of circular function. It entailscooperation and group learning while playing.
Target Audience Fourth Year Students
Learning Competency Coordinates of the Unit Circle-Special Angles and Quadrantal Angles
Duration One Hour
Objective Students will be able to
1. Identify the coordinates of the special angles in the given congruent divisions of the unit circle
2. Determine the coordinates of the quadrantal angles as seen from the unit circle
3. Play the trigo bingo ta bay with ease
Preparation Students should know how to construct a unit circle with a given congruent sides
Instructions
1. The students will be grouped into six groups. Cooperative and collaborative learning are used.
2. One bingo card and 25 chips are given to each group. On the chips written the coordinates of the special angles and the quadrantal angles.
3. The teacher will give the question and the answer of the question is found in the chip.
4. One member of the group will place the correct chip in the bingo card.
5. Once the group form the winning pattern, the group will then say bingo and the teacher will check the result and proclaim winner if the answers are correct.
Teaching Hint Students must know that the given coordinates (x,y) satisfies the equation x2 + y2 = 1.
Evaluation Evaluation is based on how far the students understand the coordinates of the special angles and the
