In the first quarter of the book Charlotte can not or will not trust anyone. When she was getting on the seahawk she thought that she was not going to be the only girl on the ship but then the other people could not make it. So she was the only girl on the ship and even worse she was younger than everyone else. Then meet Captain Jaggery Zachariah and they both wanted her to keep the dirk so she knew that people would be dangerous. It stated in the book. “If it gives you a sense of security keep it under your mattress.” …show more content…
In the second quarter she was doing good she was learning to accept the seahawk and her voyage.
Then Mr.Cranik got shot by the Captain ,and then Zachariah got whipped to death and then got thrown overboard. “Once more he paused, took a deep breath, until, with what appeared to be the merest flick of his wrist, the whip shot forward; its tail hissed through the air and spat against Zachariah's back.” So she did not know anyone on the crew that she could trust so she was just alone. She Already knew that she could not trust Captain Jaggery because he killed her best friend one board. Then throw him off the ship and everyone thought he was
dead.
Now in the third part of the book she needed to get the trust of the crew so she needed to climb the royal guard. When she did that a got down she got the trust of the crew.” Miss doyle, he pressed, you have agreed to climb to the top of the royal yard.” So then she found out that Zachariah was not dead. So she still had the trust of Zachariah and she trusted him. Now they say that charlotte killed hollybrass and then she could not trust anyone. They thought that it was her that killed hollybrass, so if she trusted them she could of been hurt or something could happen to her. Then Zachariah was going to get off the seahawk and tell the police or the government what Captain Jaggery did to the ship and that he kill Cranik and wiped Zachariah.
Next in the last part of the book Keetch was the person in the book we could not trust, because charlotte told him their whole entire plan and he told Captain Jaggery. “ How? There was a slight smile on his lips. Then he said, Mr.Keetch The plan was gone because Keetch told Captain Jaggery the plan and now he knew how to stop Zachariah and Charlotte.
In conclusion, That’s why I think the theme in the book is that you can't trust anyone because in every chapter there was someone she could not trust. In the first part of the book it was the whole crew because Captain Jaggery and Zachariah both wanted her to keep the dirk. In the second part of the book it was Captain Jaggery because he shot cranik and wiped Zachariah. In the third part of the book it was the crew again because they said that Charlotte killed Hollybrass and she went to court. Now it the last part of the book it was Keetch. He told Captain Jaggery their plan and he knew how to stop them. So that's why I think you can't trust anyone, because in every single part of the book she could not trust at least someone.
