Trujillo Progress Analysis
The image named ‘‘Progress’’ presents many unusual characteristics and details. It is composed of a group of individuals walking down the street with protest signs, a black and white tone that contrasts the objects of the shot that gives a notion of the meaning of the situation. At first, the image looks like it is trying to communicate to the audience the many issues that had to resolve on the Dominican Republic. The purpose of this piece is to give a format to and register the men and women protesting Trujillo's regime. It is the visual representation of the struggles and sufferings that the Dominicans were going through.

One important aspect of the image is the visual composition. It helps us to identify aspects of it that serve as evidence for each claim. The shot places itself very interestingly. A line down the street forms an apparent importance of the visual objects such as the protest signs and coffin. It focuses exactly on what it wants us to see. People on the streets were protesting

When released, the reception of the picture was like answering the call for help and justice. People knew they had to respond to the subject. They wanted to make the future better by resolving the pendant issues. Now, because of the text, subtext, form and symbolic elements, it is possible to notice three temporal situations that make the shot. The first one is of the General Trujillo’s government that had started the whole thing. Then, we have the present that is the awareness and support of the movement caused by the signs and crowd in it; looking to end the era of oppression. Moreover, it is possible to analyze it from the perspective of the future, seeing that the act happening in the picture did reach its goals and proved once again that the audience answered the call.
