Good evening friends and family my name is Mitch Albom. Today, we have all gathered to remember our dear friend and mentor Morrie Schwartz. We all knew this day was going to come and so did Morrie. However we still cant believe that our dear friend Morrie has left us. What a sad day.
Morrie Schwartz was a remarkable person, a wonderful husband, a loving father and professor. His loving personality has touched and changed the lives of many people around the world including his students, family, friends, and people who have been fortunate to learn about him through Nightline. Most importantly, he has changed my life and my outlook of the world.
When I fist met Morrie, what drew me to him was his kindness and his vibrant attitude towards life. Before I met Morrie, I was not forgiving or kind to others a much as I would like to be. That would all change after meeting Morrie. My entire beliefs and the way in which I would interact with regular people have changed after meeting Morrie. I was very materialistic but after meeting Morrie I learnt how to love others.
Indeed, Morrie always had a way to bring the best out of most people. As Morrie once said “After you have wept and grieved for your physical losses, cherish the functions and the life you have left.” Morrie believed that after you grief about your problem you should get up and fight against it and enjoy the rest of your life. Although Morrie isn’t in our life anymore he lives in our memories.
For such an intelligent man, Morrie was simple in expressing himself. Morrie would get people to question their beliefs and values. Fortunately, this has changed many people for the better.
Morrie lived a long good life and security. He lived a simple life free of materialistic things and lived with greater things, such as love and companionship. Morrie may not be with us now but his beliefs continue to change many lives. He would always be alive in the people’s
