Tulalip Resort Casino: Case Study
On 8-13-2016 I, James Argyro, was a No Call No Show for working at the Tulalip Resort Casino, for my scheduled shift in the security department. On the morning of my shift I got into a argument with my wife and she told me that she was leaving me and taking my son. I spent the day talking to her and working out a family matter. I should have called in and talked to any supervisor and informed them of what was going on. I understand how I left the team without a full staff for the day and how that adds stress to each person, because they have to pick up the slack for my failed.

It took us until about 11:00am to finish mowing Finland, so we then took an early lunch and headed off to Eckbeck. We finished mowing Eckbeck State Forest Campground around 4:00pm where we then headed back to Tettegouche. Upon our arrival at the maintenance…

Later that day I was told by Major Steve Schmidt that you were inquiring the whereabouts of the CID detectives in the dispatch area and you stated in front of Major Schmidt and other civilian personnel that “It’s Friday afternoon I’m sure they are at home”. This was done again in an unprofessional and condescending manner when in fact the detectives were actively investigating a recent homicide. In addition, you have repeatedly referred to Majors and the Chief by their first name on a regular basis. This also is a very disrespectful and unprofessional especially in front of your subordinates. Furthermore, there have been numerous administrative errors that have been documented over the past several years that continue to be a problem for the efficiency of the police department including payroll entries, mileage reports and subpoena processing. Most recently you failed to sign a highway safety overtime detail log. I have also been monitoring radio traffic and your condescending and unprofessional communications have started to affect your subordinates. I have noticed you have failed to give your location when called on the radio which is important not only for officer safety but also for the efficiency of call response. Your subordinates have also started to follow your example and are not giving their…

There were many things I could have done different in this situation. First and foremost I should have done my job and handled her situation right away. However, that was not the case. Since I did not, there were other ways I could have smoothed things over with Aretha and rectified the situation. I should have answered the phone according to the company’s guidelines of answering before three rings and using the standard greeting. I should have not discussed any personal issues that I was having with her or used those as an excuse as to why I did not return her phone call. I should have gone straight to apologizing for my mistake and resolving the issue.…

I had a very tedious work schedule (12 hour shifts) which caused me to be in the office more than at home. During the mist of all these things, my husband and I started to have problems because of my lack of time with the family which caused a strain in our marriage. I soon realized that…
