Tummy tuck surgery (or stomach surgery) can accomplish things that you would not be able to do on your own - no matter how much diet and exercise you undertake. You may lose weight - but neither your loose skin nor your girdle will tighten up. The inner girdle extends from your rib cage down to your pubic bone and from one side of your abdomen to the other. The body is three dimensional - hence the sagging tissues can extend from the front, to the sides, and to the back.

There are three levels of plastic surgery tummy tucks:

There is no muscle tightening with this procedure. This procedure is appropriate for those who have a higher level of skin laxity than a mini-tuck.

Tumescent Tummy Tuck - or mini tummy tuck - tummy tightening may be required when loose skin and muscles are the problem. This tummy tuck procedure is ideal for people who have fat deposits limited to the area below the navel. No 'new' navel placement is required.

Tummy tucks are predominately undertaken by women who have lost a lot of weight or who have had children. There is practically nothing that pregnancy can do to the abdomen that a tummy tuck can't fix - including eliminating stretch marks. However, male tummy tuck is not uncommon amongst men who have also lost a lot of

Cool sculpting is a popular body contouring treatment that can remove fat from tricky areas like the stomach, back and inner thighs. Cool sculpting uses cryolipolysis to destroy fat cells. This works by cooling fat cells to freezing point. As fat cells will freeze at higher temperatures, cool sculpting delivers monitored cooling to fat cells underneath the skin. This will lead to fat cell crystallization and eventually, cell death. The body will naturally remove these dead fat cells over time, which will then leave you with a more slender shape. Gastric bypass surgery achieves its effectiveness by creating a thumb-sized pouch from which the rest of the stomach is permanently divided and separated. The small intestine is cut about 18 inches below the stomach, and is rearranged to provide an outlet to the newly created small stomach, while maintaining the flow of digestive juices at the same time. Your food enters the second part of the small bowel within about 10 minutes of the beginning of a meal; whereas it usually takes about 20 to 30 minutes.…

Gastric banding is another type of bariatric surgery, where a little silicone band, normally called a "lap band" is secured around the top bit of the stomach. The band forms a pouch at the highest point of the stomach that is equipped for holding generally ½ cup of food. A standard stomach can hold around six cups of food. Like with gastric bypass surgery, gastric banding creates a circumstance where the patient can just eat minuscule measures of food before ending up noticeably full, and calorie intake is greatly reduced.…

For people who are morbidly obese (BMI of 40 or greater) or BMI of 35 or more with serious health issues, the surgery benefits them more then not getting it. It has been said that 95 percent of people who diet to lose weight put it back on within two to three years (Dr. Leibel, 2005). With surgery you have the tool to change this because you will have a smaller stomach which helps prevent so much hunger at least at the beginning. People who are morbidly obese should seriously consider getting this surgery because the pros outweigh the cons by far. A majority of patients having surgery for obesity can expect long term weight loss if they follow all the postoperative guidelines. Gastric bypass has…

If a teen already feels uncomfortable with the natural look of her body, after scarring that will not change or worst case scenario, she may feel worse about her body and feel like she has to cover it up to camouflage it. Another con to surgery is obsession. After the satisfaction of having a successful surgery, a teen may feel like she must continue on with surgeries to begin a process of changing, altering or fixing any minor flaws in order to gain full satisfaction. Having multiple surgeries increases the risk or serious complications. It is possible to for someone to undergo too much surgery where they will eventually experience long term effects. In some cases, depending on the surgery being done, there are various complications for each procedure. For example, when it comes to surgeries like breast augmentations, most women have at least one serious complication within the first three years with complications including infection, painful hardening of the breast , scarring, loss of nipple sensation, etc. (Zuckerman, par.4) Death is one of the most severe outcomes of plastic surgery.
