Tutorial of Study Management
TUTORIAL 2

1. Describe the major influences on the development of management thought. * Economic Influences which relate to the availability, production, and distribution of resources within a society. Such as “At the Forefont”, we can see the economic impact of declining markets and declining prices on one segment of the agriculture industry. It shows that how that segment was able to rebound by introducing a product that seemed to fit a niche market. * Social Influences relate to the aspects of a culture that influence interpersonal relationships. The needs, values, and standard of behavior among people help form the social contract of the culture. The social contract embodies unwritten rules and perceptions that govern interpersonal relationships, as well as the relationships between people and organizations. * Political Influences it relate to the impact of political institutions on individuals and organizations. At a basic level are the various civil and criminal laws that influence a person and organizational behavior. Furthermore, the political system has bestowed various rights upon individuals and organizations that also impact behavior. * Technological Influences relate to advances and refinements in any of the devices used in conjunction with conducting business. Business leaders in the global economy must be alert to all opportunities for improvement. They must stay abreast of the new technology so that they can make intelligent, informed decisions. * Global Influences which means by the pressures to improve quality, productivity, and costs as organizations try to compete in the worldwide marketplace. The international, or global, dimension of an organization’s environment has had the most profound impact on management thinking in recent years

    4 Methods of Management

Internal factors, or the environment of a business, consist of the organizational resources available to accomplish its goals. The task of management is to acquire technological, financial and physical resources and make efficient and effective use of them within the business. Globalization is “the increasing interdependence, integration and interaction among people and corporations in disparate locations around the world” (Webster 2007). is an important aspect for success, growth and survival of a business in the world market and can be implemented in both the controlling and leading functions of management. Each business is in competition with all other businesses in their category, therefore, “resources are scarce and management success depends on how well these resources are both acquired and used” (Montana & Charnove 2000). In an attempt to reach the outside world, it is important to explore the sourcing of materials and other manufactured goods offered at a lower cost. Global networking allows for new ideas and planning which goes hand and hand with innovation and the expansion of ideas and concepts.…

The three study strategies that I have chosen are Recite, Rehearse, and Write, Study during short, frequent sessions, and using flash cards. Recite, Rehearse and write is a way of learning the material by respectively reviewing it repetitively. Study during short, frequent sessions is a way to gain the knowledge by reviewing the material in short intervals, leaving it for a short period of time and then returning to go over it again. Using Flash cards is a process that uses visual cues to help the intake of information that you are studying.…

Businesses today rely on technology to help perform necessary operations. As technology changes, what we consider advanced today, tomorrow will be considered outdated. Business ideas will also change in order to stay competitive with each other. New technology will always arise as old technologies are exploited to maintain a competitive market. With the aid of technology businesses can make more money in a more global market. Instead of selling products or offering services to local customer, they now can be sold to those who would typically be considered out of reach.…

The three study strategies that I chose are SQ3R, using flash cards and A.S.P.I.R.E. SQ3R stands for Survey, Question, Read, Recite and Review. First survey, or skim over the assignment, paying close attention to chapter headings, bold type, charts and summary. Next, question what is needed to understand and complete the assignment. Ask questions based on the preview of the assignment. Read and highlight important information and answer the questions. Recite answers to the questions and make notes. Review the material and questions frequently. I found that this method is almost identical to the PQRST method, which stands for Preview, Question, Read, Summarize and Test. I think I already use some of the steps in the SQ3R method. I have a tendency to skip over the reciting part of this method, which is shocking, considering my learning style is verbal. Flash cards are amazing!!! I can remember using flash cards back in grade school, all the way through high school. I even used flash cards in cosmetology school to learn the different nail diseases. I found it slightly more effective to have another person test me with the flash cards, rather than testing myself. With a verbal learning style, saying things out loud definitely helps me remember. I was doing some research online at studygs.net/aspire.html and found a study strategy called A.S.P.I.R.E.…
