Twas The Night Before Christmas By Clement Clarke Moore
I chose “Twas the Night Before Christmas”, by Clement Clarke Moore to do my stylistic impression on because it is very important to me and it has a nice rhythm, meter, and rhyme. Every Christmas eve, my dad has read this poem/story to me, so this poem has a personal significance. Whenever I hear this poem, I become very happy, because this poem triggers joyus Christmas memories filled with family and good times. I also like the rhyming of this, because it gives the story an upbeat, jolly tone. It has a nice meter, however the meter is irregular. The meter also adds a very upbeat and joyous feel to this poem. The meter is very free spirited. It isn’t very strict, which allows for more creativity when constructing a line. The rhyme pattern

    A great work of art that has a great impact on my life is the novel A Christmas Carol by Charles Dickson. The story tells of a cold hearted, selfish business man named Ebenezer Scrooge, who is visited by his deceased business partner Jacob Marley and three ghosts on Christmas Eve. Jacob Marley who chained tells Scrooge that he should change his way or he will be punished in the after life. Marley beged for Scrooge to be given a chance to change. It’s a reminder that showing compassion toward unkind people can make them a happier. The story has also taught me to treat people with kindness and respect.
