Types of Intelligence After reading the chapter and lecture that was assigned to me, I believe that I have a better understanding of the types of intelligence. During my study I have also, learned that there is eight different types of intelligence. In this short essay I am going to take the time to discuss each of the eight types of intelligence, I will also be discussing the benefit to intelligence testing and what they measure. I will also be addressing what controversies psychologists have found in reference to intelligence test and how to prevent or lessen them. The first type of intelligence I would like to discuss is Linguistic Intelligence. Linguistic Intelligence has to deal with a person’s ability to use language to communicate there emotions & ideas. It also gives you the ability to understand what other individuals are communicating back to you. The second is Logical/Mathematical Intelligence which is the understanding of some kind of logical system and being able to manipulate things such as numbers.(Feldman, 2010) The third type happens to be Musical Rhythmic Intelligence which is the ability to think in musical terms. It makes you able to hear different musical patterns and even mimic them. The fourth type is Bodily/Kinesthetic Intelligence is the ability to use certain body parts or even the whole body to solve problems, work out exercising, playing sports or even make something such as an invention.(Feldman, 2010) The fifth type of intelligence is the Spatial Intelligence happens to be the way one represents the world in the mind. The sixth type is the Naturalist Intelligence which is the ability to tell the difference between living things such as plants, people, animals and that of nature such as the sky, clouds, rocks, dirt.
