more about diversity as well as social issues.
Our preferences indicate how we prefer to acquire information, make decisions, focus out attention or energy, and our self in relation to society or others. When acquiring information, some prefer sensing over intuition. Those who sense are detail oriented while people who are intuitive like considering the bigger picture. When making decisions, some think and some feel. Thinkers are logical where as people to feel are value oriented. There are introvert and then there are extroverts. Introverts do a lot of thinking to themselves where as extroverts like social interaction. Then there are those who like judging and others who prefer perceiving. Those who prefer perceiving are more spontaneous and flexible compared to individuals who like judging. The section on preferences includes a chart correlating personality type with learning preferences. If were where to treat the choices of each category as the extremes of different spectrums. I would fall around the middle of each because I don’t feel like I am completely one choice or the other. When relating to the outside world, I do prefer perceiving over judging, however its almost instinct for me to have some sort of judgment.
The four categories of temperaments are Guardians, Artisans, Idealists, and Rationalist.
Order and responsibility are important to Guardians. They value routines, tradition, and careful planning. Artisans are flexible but impulsive. They are spontaneous, free, and like action. The book describes Idealists as "usually optimistic and romantic and try to bring out the best in others. They encourage harmony and dislike conflict. Idealists are diplomatic, cooperative, sensitive, and enthusiastic". Rationalist value knowledge and proficiency. They like knowing and being in control. In high school I feel like I have had a few teachers that categorize themselves as rationalist. They were also however condescending and not very pleasant to be around. Not all rationalists are terrible, but those where the most impressionable of the type I have
encountered.
