Forced love
In the commencement of the play, Hippolyta and Theseus who are potrayed as queens who have their origins from the Amazons show forced love. In act 1, Theseus mentions “ I managed to woo her with the help of a sword. “ the help of the sword was majorly used to show the struggle done to win over her love. Additionally, in Act 5, Hippolyta says that “My Theseus.” The explanation of such statement is used to show that she mainly and interested in marrying him. As readers, we are left wondering because we cannot be able to figure out whether the two are in real love or just interested in marrying each other. Throughout the play we can see that his love for Hippolyta had actually grown leading to both to inally get married. The knowledge of love he had about Lysander, Hermia, Demetrius and Helena made him to be vulnerable because of the effects of love these people had for each other (Shakespeare,.1997)

From the story, the character of Egeus seems to portray him of being strict and commanding. The general character shows that the father has the right of showing the way and is the main boss. Despite the mad love between Lysander and Hermia, they both refuse to marry and surprisingly, Egeus prefers to be married by Demetrius because she sees he suited her. The main reason why Egeus may not readily want his daughter to be married by Lysander is because she may not have known him for enough time. in this relation, despite every parent desire to see their children happy, they should also be given the chance of deciding what is better for them while being given the opportunity of making their own
