Understanding Who I am
“Everything happens for a reason”. My name is Alexis Lee Spino. I am a descendant of David and Laura Spino. My father is one hundred percent Italian. My grandmother comes from Italy and so on and so forth. My mother is half Italian and twenty five percent French and twenty-five Irish. I tend to affiliate more with the Italian side of my family. I feel like Italians are more inviting then the other half of my mom’s side of the family. Characteristics about my self from my Italian side of the family is definitely outgoing, loud, and inviting. From my other side, I have a very addictive personality, stubbornness, and over dramatic.
My father is very religious, a Christian. He is more spiritual than religious I would say. He doesn’t believe that you have to go to church to be close to God. Through prayer, you are the closest to God so the bible says. My father is also a strong believer in God. My father prays every morning and every night. One night I saw my dad praying along the side of his bed. I asked him what he would say during his prayers. He told me that he prays for his family, for his life, and for the world. He did say that at times he would pray for his own well being. He prays for his own well being because he was once in a very dark place in his life. He was addicted to many different types of substances. He now is sober and has remained sober for years. I am very aware of substance abuse due to my dad’s own experiences and life lessons.
My mother comes from a broken home. She was in and out of foster care with her sister because my grandmother was abusing substances and was not able to take care of her children. My mother has never touched a substance in her life. She has seen at first hand how it can break up a family. My mother’s horrible experiences have taught me a lot in life. I have learned to not abuse substances. My mother is an incredible role
