In the novel Trouble by Gary D. Schmidt, a possible theme could be that one will occur multiple conflicts and will have to overcome them to continue life. In the novel, Franklin’s father was “sitting alone in the bay window” with “no work” on his desk and his pipe was “cold and unsmoked” (Schmidt 143). In the following days after Franklin's desk, Henry's father is not overcoming his son's death and will not continue on with his normal life. This quote relates to the theme because it shows that not overcoming conflicts will result in denial and zero motivation to continue on.…
In February 2014, Baltimore Ravens player Ray Rice and his fiancée Janay Palmer (now wife) were arrested, charged and later released in Atlantic City on what was called simple assault charges. The details were not clear at the time. However, what was known was that Rice and Palmer got into a some form of an altercation inside the Revel Casino. Rice 's lawyer stated in was just a "minor physical altercation." Not long afterward video footage surfaced showing Rice dragging an unconscious Palmer out of an elevator. The Ravens organization as a whole defended Rice after he was arrested and reiterated he would continue to be the team 's running back. Steve Bisciotti, the team owner, praised Rice and his good character and noted that Rice had no prior off-field trouble. The charges against Rice were elevated to aggravated assault after prosecutors presented the case to a grand jury. At that point, the charges were dropped against Palmer for…

Throughout our childhood, and as young adults we have constantly been reminded that cleanliness is very important, whether that be from parents, the media, or any influential person in one’s lifetime. However have you ever considered the effects of too much cleanliness? Things like allergies and asthma are caused by too little exposure to germs. Which Penny Sarchet discusses in her article “Germ Warfare” featured in the magazine New Scientists she explains just how essential cleanliness is along with; the side affects of being too clean, the proper amount of laundry detergent, soap, and cleaning supplies to use,the importance of washing, and the positives of exposure to germs at a young age.…
a. A Behavior Therapist would look at Geraldos fear of medical procedures and avoidance of routine dental checkups for over three years as a phobia. A phobia is an intense irrational fear of something that causes a disruption in a person’s life. Behavior therapists assume “that problem behaviors are the problems, and the application of learning principles can eliminate them.” (Myers…
There was not any peacemaking or connectedness, care, or mindfulness on the officer’s behalf. After Carla Sims returned the child to the father, she returned home with the rest of her children. An accurate number of how many kids she had was not mentioned; however, the father returned to Carla’s home with his daughter in tow. He threatened Carla with pressing charges against her for child desertion if she did not accept their daughter. She refused because he was not following court orders. So in retaliation, the father called the…

She now knows that these are not the things that people should be worrying about. She knows that this is how most of her people think and she wants them to be aware that that should not be their number one concern. She says that one should worry about the people you trust and see what they are doing because you “were all made in the same batch.” She no longer fears these unseen germs, she now fears the fact that the people you love and trust need to look in fear because you share DNA. She believes that those are the ones who will kill one’s system. She thinks that one needs to look over their shoulder to see if the one that is in charge of you and see if there are holding a knife because “it might not be a colored hand but it is still a knife. She thinks that catching these unseen germs are less important than that. Knowing that perhaps the one that is holding you up might be the one to…
There is the fight or flight that every living being uses, animal and human. Humans often have other bodily reactions to fear, such as fast heart rate, sweaty palms and many others. Often times, the same person can have different reactions to different situations. For example, when I take a big test or write an essay, my hands begin to sweat. Not only does this help me calm down, I am able to focus on the task at hand. I have had a lasting fear of “The back room” in my house, it is a room that is unfinished and is used for storage purposes. I fear the room because it has a decent amount of old stuff, the room is dusty, and it is a dwelling for many arthropods and arachnids. I do not hate the room itself, because it holds the water heater and all the tools to make my house work smoothly, but I fear what lies behind the boxes, the old board games, and the unknown inside it all. Every time I have to go back in the room, I shiver and shudder and pray that there is not any sudden movement that passes my feet. While I shiver at the thought of bugs and the unknown I also have a terrible fear of heights. My fear is so bad I can barely go on the final step of a six foot ladder. I refuse to go into the attic and I scoff at the idea of helping my sister put Christmas lights on the roof. When I do come to a situation when I am on a rooftop or on a mountain overlooking a valley, not only am I…
Why are relationships so complicated? All relationships involve conflicts or arguments at one point in time. Occasionally, the conflicts would be taken too far. There would be a tear in the relationship that could be mended but never be the same again.…
Nearly everyone in the world is scared of something, for example mice or needles. For many people these are minor fears. A fear is a rational response to a situation that possibly poses a threat to our safety. It is normal to experience fear in a dangerous situation. I believe that the best practices in early childhood education include children’s ideas, parent’s values and teacher’s suggestions. All of these will benefit children’s learning as well as give them a good understanding of the environment around them. Teachers should be flexible with the daily schedule and open to different learning opportunities. This way, children will have less structured time and more opportunities to explore and learn. As I observe in some of the childcare centers, children do not have enough time to play or finish their investigation and projects. They are hurried to be putting their toys away, and this does not benefit their learning. Teachers should encourage children to explore and investigate the topic further. The center’s policies should exclude time outs, as it does not improve children’s behavior, but rather stimulates him to get more attention. Teachers should encourage children to solve problems, and help them out if they see that serious issue occurs. Also, the physical environment has a big impact on best practices too. It should be filled with warm colors and feel like home to children. If the children will feel like at home, they will feel safe, which will benefit their learning.…
2. According to the Freudian concept of psychoanalysis, phobias are believed to originate from childhood traumas. This perspective also supports the idea that phobias may be replacing other hidden fear or anger that the individual is reluctant to face. Fortunately, these anxieties can be treated. Such techniques in which to do so include those from the…
One of my greatest fear’s are spiders and snakes, because I think they're so gross with their eight creepy crawling legs and their big eyes and slithery bodies. When my mom or I see a spider you better be out of our way because we are deathly afraid of them. In Texas there are spiders that can kill you if you don't make it to the hospital fast enough. They are called Black Widow’s. What's bad about Spider’s living in Texas is that my dad (Keith) , my older brother (Cole) , my step mom (Janice), and my step sister (Jenna) live their. They have poisonous snakes in the lake that my dad lives on. They are called Water Moccasins. Water Moccasins are snakes. Since Texas has a lot of poisonous animals I’m constantly scared something has crawled…
