According to big class action most consumers have the right to the best goods and services at the lowest prices. The competitive process works the best when the prices are set honestly and independently. Price fixing occurs when an agreement among competitors to raise or fix the prices of their goods and services. (Bigclassaction.com) I have had a personal experience when this had happen to me. My husband and I decided to go on vacation; we decided to use Expedia to book our hotel room. The price of our room was $ 375 for a week’s stay. We made the reservations and paid for the room. Once we arrived at the hotel the desk clerk stated the cost of the room was $475.
We asked to speak to the manager. When the hotel manager came out she explained to us that sometimes the actual price changes. We found a different hotel to stay in, once we were in our room we decided that her explanation did not make sense. After many hours of research on the internet I discovered that Expedia uses third party companies to buy unsold rooms and sell them at a higher price. This type of arrangement can be considered price fixing. Once we returned home we filed a complaint against Expedia.
I feel that in this situation Expedia should not use third party companies to price fix their rooms. Also the manger of the hotel should have been honest on how they sell rooms. If they were honest about the third party companies selling rooms on their behalf. As well as explaining that there could be extra charges involved. I would have paid the $475 for the room. I would not file a complaint against Expedia.

The Christopher Hotel is a business and economy style hotel which should have a large focus on traveling groups, budget travelers, and business travelers. The hotel seems to be under-performing when compared to area competitors, based on its original targets however it seemed to be doing well. Comparable hotels seem to be selling more rooms while selling them at a higher rate. The Christopher’s market penetration is only at 84% of its fair share of the market based on their amount of rooms. The penetration is calculated by dividing the hotel’s actual market share by its fair share (its proportion to rooms available in the local market).…

If I overheard the person in front of you in line getting a better room rate at a Hilton Hotel, I probably will comfort myself her/his room is not as good as mine. It happens that people could get a cheaper even free room or ticket if she/he has time to find out the hotel is full or empty. But I would not do that, it’s time consuming and it is usually for people not follow the schedule.…

The Sarbanes-Oxley Act of 2002 (SOX) was created to prevent fraudulent financial activities, and to provide investors with more accurate financial resources on corporations. Under SOX, companies are held accountable if they fail to maintain the requirements that were set forth in the act. The act requires companies to maintain satisfactory internal control measures, provide responsible financial reports, disclose periodic reports, and establish rules for annual reporting. (Hazels, 2010) These requirements are all part of the Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP). Corporations and accounting firms should have already been practicing these principles to uphold ethical behavior. However, the governing bodies charged with monitoring of corporate finances as well as their practices were outdated and that necessitated the reforms outlined in the Sarbanes-Oxley Act of 2002.…

This business plan is to open a door for young adults that want to learn a trade and earn their way in life. Not all high school aged students are eager to go onto a college or a university and this can be for many reasons: perhaps they are not ready to leave home; cannot afford; they are academically challenged; not sure what they want to major in; the list can go on and on. My wish for these young adults is for them to explore what their capabilities are through learning a trade. This trade school is the only one of its kind in this county, we want to offer a variety of skill sets to the students without them having to travel far or live elsewhere. We feel that instead of the undue stress that can wreak havoc on these young adults and their families as to what to do after high school if they are not ready to attend an academic college or university, why not offer them an option of a skill that will enable them to make money and be a prelude to an academic school. Currently, what I am seeing with these young adults that are stuck on what do to with their lives, is a huge increase in drug use, crime and horrifically death.…
