Junior Scholastic, a magazine for teens, wrote an article on how uniforms take away students individuality. In the article it states, “Another problem is that uniforms undermine students’ individuality” (Scholastic). What this is demonstrating is that the students all have a different identity. By placing uniforms into the schools, it would take away the student's individuality. Individuality is very important because that is what makes you unique, and uniforms take that away because they try to make everyone similar or the same. Secondly, Dennis Evans, the director of Administrative Services Credential Program and a Graduate Advisor, wrote an article on how school uniforms affect students individuality. In his article, he mentions,“Concerned with Individuality and Personal Rights” (Evans). Furthermore this states how everyone is concerned about the loss of individuality with uniforms because this attire cuts down on how much a student can be unique. Continuing, this is a big issue in schools because students are being shut off from expressing themselves.Your individuality is everything in the real world because everyone is unique in their own way. Concluding, uniforms take away student's individuality because it promotes sameness. Sameness is trying to take a person or group and make them all the same and that is what uniforms promote.
