E1 & 2
In every community there are a wide range of services available to the community, especially the mother and child section of the community. The range of services i'm going to focus on are Education & Healthcare.
The services are settled into 3 sectors:
- Statutory
- Voluntary
- Private
A statutory sector is a sector that is in place due to laws, and is usually funded by the government. Examples of the statutory sector are schools, hospitals, dental healthcare. Schools are set up so that every child in the community has the right to an education, healthy meals & a place for children to meet new people. They are a multi-agency ran system, working with lots of different organisations such as health care nurses, special needs assistants, pastoral care, social workers and many more. A majority of schools usually follow a govern-set curriculum for the children to follow to ensure each childs gets equal access to education. Most schools are open from 9am - 3:30pm Monday - Friday (term time only).
A Voluntary sector is a sector that is usually ran by one person, for example mother & toddler groups, brownies and playschools, and are supported by donations from the people whom use their services. Voluntary organizations provide extra support for familes, teaching children skills from an early age. Most voluntary organizations also help a child to get used to routine. Playschools offer a non-mandatory programme to children aged 3-5 years in order to prepare them for entering primary school.
A Private sector is a sector that is ran by charging a small fee to those whom use the service. For example, nurseries. Nurseries are usually set up and ran by one person, offering around usually 40 places. The representing body for nurseries is the NDNA.
Each of these sectors benefit children & adults in many different ways. Schools benefit the child because they offer the staple education, free
