How would you assess a forum response or a peer assignment which is counter to your personal values? What feedback would you give in this situation?
The opportunity to assess a peer’s work is a valuable tool in higher education as it not only allows each participant to view ideas generated by others it also allows the students to learn from their peers. This learning opportunity not only gives each student a chance to critique the works of others but it also allows them the opportunity to see what others think of their work. It means that past learning experiences and performance are an indication of how a student will perform at the college level. In order for an individual to succeed in higher education and in life they must have characteristics that go beyond their learning ability. These characteristics include the capability to learn facts and figures but also the skill to research and critically think for themselves but just as important as these skills are the students drive and desire to succeed. Measuring or at least taking these characteristics into consideration has to be part of the assessment
