Assignment One: There are 3 main sections to graphical drawing: - Equipment - Media - Techniques Pencils – There is a range of different pencils, all with thicker and thinner leads along with lighter and darker shades. The pencils range from ‘H’ to ‘B’, with ‘H’ being the lightest and ‘B’ the darkest. When completing drawings in construction we are more likely to use pencils on the ‘H’ side of the scale like, 2H and 3H. Pencil choice is very important as our drawings will be drawn in great detail. Pencils must be kept sharp for drawings to be accurate as the lead must not be too thick.

Its purpose is to erase pencil lines and marks. In graphical detailing, it is very likely that you will make small errors; therefore the eraser is there to cancel out the mistake and allow you to draw correctly and accurately.
Parallel Drawing Boards/Drawing Boards – Drawing boards are used for placing pages on for completing draws. The board gives a firm, flat and smooth surface for drawing on. Some drawing boards are fitted with a small stand at the back of the board to make it slanted slighted; this is suited to some people when drawing rather than the flat drawing board, these are called parallel drawing boards. They also have clips to hold the paper in place, unlike the normal drawing boards as it has a flap fitted for holding the page. A tee square can be fitted onto a drawing board.
Paper – Paper is used in graphical detailing for drawing on. The paper size can vary from AO, being the largest to A7, being the smallest. The stencils usually provide templates of circles, ranging in size, along with worktops and furniture like sinks and toilets. Stencils are usually made from plastic and they are very thin.
Pens – Pens are used for ink drawing in graphical detailing, the use of pen is not as common as pencil. Pens come in a range of sizes, this is due to the detail of the drawings, and you may need a thick line for some walls so you would choose your pen size to suit this. The most common pen sizes used in graphical detailing are a range of 0.25mm to 0.7mm in diameter.
Flexible Curves – These are made from plastic and can be used for when drawing specific shapes and curves in drawings. The flexible curve can be bent and shaped into a suit curve for your drawing. Flexible curves can be long and short; also they can be used for to find out the real size of curves on a drawing as they have a scale.
Reprographics – This is photocopying, it’s used when a copy of a drawing is needed more than once, instead of completing an entire drawings you would just photocopy one.
Drafting Tape - Is used in drawing to secure the page you are using on the drawing board. The drafting tape is applied in 4 corners to ensure the page is
