Introduction:
In this report I will talk to you about the 5 mass extinctions that have happened on earth over the past 434 million years. I will also talk to you about the effects of the current mass extinction. The last things i will show is a list of 10 recently extinct species and 10 endangered species.
Number 1: The Ordovician Silurian Extinction
This extinction happened about 439 million years ago, because of a drop in sea levels as glaciers formed. An ice age has been the one to blame for the cause of the extinctions. A big ice sheet in the southern hemisphere caused climate change and a drop in sea levels. A combination of this lowering of sea level caused a reduction in ecospace on continental shelves, and the cooling caused by the …show more content…
Also the drop of sea levels may have had a large effect on living life.
Number 6: The Holocene extinction
The start of the 6th mass extinction has now begun. A nimals are going extinct a hundred to thousand times faster than they were known to ever go extinct. Unlike the other mass extinctions, this one is being caused by humans. Humans are polluting almost everything on earth. There is an overpopulation of humans. That resulting in having to produce large amounts of crops. That causes people to over harvest. Human are doing everything to make their lives better, but with that they are affecting species. They are moving their habitats and taking their food. They are even consuming a lot of animals making them become endangered. The main thing humans are doing to cause this mass extinction is producing overly high amounts of greenhouse gases. All the gases are getting trapped making everything warmer, therefore causing global warming.
Global warming is affecting animals and other living creatures the most. They have no place to hide from the warming making them die
