Equal Access to Health Care. This means that everyone can receive medical attention without worrying about the expense. The number of uninsured U.S. residents has grown to over 45 million. With Universal health care everyone would have access to medical help when they need it. Health care has become so expensive for both companies and individuals alike. Many businesses cannot afford to provide the health benefits to their employees because of the costs. Individuals who may have insurance still run the risk of medical bankruptcies. It has worked well for them and it has been administered by the governments. Some counties also have private health care in addition to the Universal system. This allows individuals who can afford private insurance to purchase and have access to procedures which may not be available under the Universal system.
For the United States to adopt a Universal system, it will take many years and may be done in stages. There would have to be a completed understanding on how and if the medical insurance companies would play a part. How and which government agency would be responsible for administering this. How are we going to pay for it? Perhaps we need to better understand the way many other counties who have a similar system. Learn from their mistakes and their successes.
