East’s governmental issues. Unfortunately, many people in the Middle East saw the United States as oppressing the Middle East instead of helping it for the better. In 1979, for example, Iran stormed the U.S. embassy in Tehran and kept the staff as hostages to show their hostility towards the United States and to display that they no longer wanted the U.S. in their country. Problems with Middle Eastern government and the U.S. being amid it, led to a high-speed rise of resentment towards the United States. The U.S.
playing a big role in the Middle East has led to conflict that has directly affected the United States. If the United States were to completely pull out from the Middle East, attacks would not be direct because the U.S. would not be in the middle of the conflict. On September 11th, 2001, the U.S. was attacked by terrorists that were furious about the growing role of the United States in the Middle East. They left the World Trade Center and Pentagon in shambles. The attacks killed more than three thousand people and left many wounded and suffering. If the U.S. started to cut ties with the Middle East, attacks would be less likely to happen because terrorists would not have a reason to be upset. The United States’ position in the Middle East is simply not working. An overactive role in the Middle East is not making the people of that region happy. It is time to change it up completely, because the United States’ efforts thus far have not led to peace. Ultimately, keeping peace in the Middle East would lead to oil resources coming from that region being more open, and that is truly why the U.S. got involved in the first place. The Middle East can stand on its own and handle their problems themselves, it is not the United States’ job to try and appease a situation that has nothing to do with
them.
