Rough Draft Usage of Doublespeak
Unfortunately doublespeak is a concern for many people around the world who are fully aware of the consequences. Using doublespeak has the power to harm our ability of understanding valuable information. This method of language clearly will keep us blind from the reality. Doublespeak is a convenience people implement into their language who try to disguise the truth using alternative words that sound acceptable. Others argue a different understanding about doublespeak. They argue that this should not be a concern, that it is simply a way of using words. Many will have different opinions on this controversial issue, whether it's a good thing, or a bad thing, but the facts are clear. The article ''Doubts of Doublespeak" by William Lutz, explains what doublespeak is and its dangers. In Lutz eyes, doublespeak is a language which is purposely modified for different reasons. In the first paragraphs this author explains that doublespeak surrounds us on a everyday basis. Lutz gives the reader different examples of how doublespeak is used. A word like the inner city which what most people know it as the ghetto is an alternative word designed to sound good.
Lutz states in this article that there are different types of doublespeak. These four are euphemism, jargon, gobbledygook, and inflated language.
