UT Chattanooga Marching Mocs
This is a copy of the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga Marching Mocs Alma Mater and fight song

Alma Mater
Lookout Mountainr o'er us guarding,
Ceaseless watch doth keep.
In the valley stands our college, where the shadows creep.

Refrain:
Chattanooga, Chattanooga!
Loud the anthem swells.
Sing, O Sing of alma mater.
All her praised tell.

As in days of blood and battle
On that mountain's height,
Soldiers fought, so she shall ever
Stand for truth and right.

Refrain:
Chattanooga, Chattanooga!
Loud the anthem swells.
Sing, O Sing of alma mater.
All her praised tell.

Loyally, we'll bear her standard,
Blazon'd gold and blue,
Forward, upward, ever onward,
Forth to dare and do.

Refrain:
Chattanooga, Chattanooga!
Loud the anthem swells.
Sing, O Sing of alma mater.
All her praised tell.

Fight Song
Fight, Chattanooga,
'Til the victory is won.
Mighty Mocs you know,
We're counting on you;
Go UTC Gold and Blue

Fight! Fight!

Roll on, Chattanooga,
Ride the rails to victory;
Ever more we pledge to always be True to UTC

I am writing concerning Tripp Moore, whom I have come to know throughout my years as the Flomaton High School “Hurricane” Marching Band drumline instructor. As Tripp’s instructor, it was a pleasure to get to know him. Tripp has been a great student of mine and it has been my pleasure of being able to teach him. He has some great qualities of a human being and qualities that you would love to see in a leader. Tripp’s hard work and his dedication to music helped him as he joined band and made awesome strides to be on the best percussionist. Tripp also dedicates his time to being a part of the Flomaton High School Jazz Band, and being the drummer at his church First Baptist Church of Flomaton, Alabama. Tripp will one day be a great leader in his…

Receiving an acceptance letter from Vanderbilt University gives any student the opportunity of a college experience unlike any other. Is it the social life? Is it the Greek community? How about the Southeastern Conference sports scene? The answer to all of these questions is yes. But I failed to mention what sets Vanderbilt apart from almost any other school in the world: its location in downtown Nashville. Nashville, Tennessee isn’t called “Music City, USA” without reason. From the Grand Ole Opry to the dozens of stages on Broadway, Nashville is the epicenter of country music. Every night of the week, students have the opportunity to walk, bike, or taxi cab down to Broadway to hear some of the most talented country artists in the world. Specifically, The Don Kelley band plays on a weekly basis at Robert’s Western World and is known as one of the elite cover bands in Nashville. After attending their show earlier this year, it was apparent that their talent earned them their reputation. In this paper, I will overview the band, review their live performance, and draw connections between the band and earlier generations of music.…

Man, I must say that I have been EXTREMELY busy covering these politics because it’s full of false accusations and scandals and I am trying my hardest to be honest and fair. Now my friend what I mean by false accusations and scandals is the media; both printed and social media; have a way of influence the audience into believe what they feel they want them to believe versus how I believe in what we need to be believe and deserve that (to certain circumstances). I’ll go through all that stuff and enlighten you a bit more about what I have learned this past week about it so you aren’t confused. I’m also going to talk about how hard it was to determine whether or not my stories were socially responsible, assessing the credibility of the sites I visited (which was only one really I trusted) and my awareness of how I might influence the public and or other reporters. Well my friend, now that you know what to expect, let’s just dive right into my responsibility of being fair and balance coverage.…

Wrongful convictions occur every day. With a legal system that is at times dependent on eyewitness accounts and hearsay there is room for error. Sometimes these errors of justice are quickly rectified, but at other times the process can be long and drawn out. In the case of the West Memphis three: Damian Echols, Jason Baldwin, and Jessie Misskelley, were teenagers when they were arrested for the murders of three young boys: Chris Byers, Michael Moore, and Stevie Branch. For nearly two decades, although convicted of the crimes, the West Memphis three denied any involvement in the murders. The West Memphis three case is a prime example of how small town misconceptions and rumors can take hold of a criminal case and twist non-existent evidence into concrete evidence, leading to a miscarriage of justice. Damian Echols, Jessie Misskelley and Jason Baldwin are innocent of the murders of Christopher Byers, Stevie Branch and Michael Moore.…

Only 12 out of the 17 members played instruments in the band on Saturday. Three of these members were of the color guard. Bret Stravers and Noah Johnson, middle school band member, were in charge of carrying the L-S band banner in front of the band. Drum major, Senior Mariah Vos lead the band through the long, hot parade. Vos commented, “It was a good learning experience because we are a young band. It went better than I thought it would.”…

Last Monday, I got to experience a sensational performance by the University Symphony, composed by Dr. Jonathan Pasternack, that enhanced my knowledge and emotional state through the uniqueness of both the symphony and opera act. Having only experienced a symphony once during the course of my life, I was ecstatic to attend such a soothing and joyful concert. The concert was fairly short, it last two hours, and consisted of 2 symphony songs and 1 opera act. The first two were symphony, which were played in a very unpredictable manner. The melody (violins) started off very slow and quickly increased their tempo. The orchestra performed many instances of crescendo and decrescendos; this kept the audience on the edge of their seats in anticipation. The second part consisted of an opera in one act entitled “L’Enfant Ee Les Sortileges by Murice Ravel, which was sung like an act, and played by the orchestra. Both parts of the performance were very unique in there own ways, however, what intrigued me the most, was the ability of the performers to create an emotional connection with the audience.…

In the late 1960s and early 1970s, student protests against the Vietnam War were fairly common, and often violent. The May 4, 1970 protest at Kent State— just one of hundreds of campus protests scheduled for that day in reaction to President Nixon’s announced military push into Cambodia—was considered relatively peaceful by historical standards. Many questions arose after the National Guard opened fire on a crowd of protesting students— the most haunting of them being: “Why did they shoot at unarmed student protesters?” And while the National Guard steadfastly claims the shooting was justified, victims are equally adamant that there was no justification present—and the known facts can support both claims.…

Marching band and concert band have two completely different concepts. However, many high school students consider the word band as being able to play some kind of musical instrument. Being a five year marching band member and playing in concert band for seven years, I feel as if I know the difference between these two activities. One of the main differences between marching and concert band is the mental process one must go through to memorize the music and the steps on the field. Obviously marching band is much more physical than concert band, and the adrenalin one gets before competing is extraordinarily different. Another noticeable difference is the marching band is under the direction of a student drum major and not the actual band director who conducts all concert band activities. Personally, I do not understand why the students at my high school did not know the difference between marching and concert band. In my opinion, the difference is very clear.…

Tight uniforms, loud voices, pulled back ponytails with bows the size of their head, white tennis shoes, and girls being thrown into the air, is the typical definition of a cheerleader but what exactly is a cheerleader? A cheerleader is a person who is a member of a group who shout out special songs or chants to encourage the team and entertain the crowd during a game in sports such as football or basketball. Is it a sport? I hear a lot of the times that cheerleading isn’t a sport. A sport is an activity involving physical exertion and skill in which an individual or team competes against another for entertainment. That doesn’t exactly make cheerleading qualify as a sport. There is a difference in what some people may make out of it. In some case people say if you compete in competitions cheerleading is a sport, but in other cases if the cheerleader is just the girl that cheers on the crowd for entertainment, this isn’t considered to be an athlete. A cheerleader that competes in competition is considered to be an athlete.…
