Ladies and gentlemen, dear family and friends, teachers. My fellow students, we did it!
Many years passed as we watched others graduate, imagining ourselves to their places. And now, after three years, here we are. Three years of lack of sleep, agonizing over too hard homework assignments and not really knowing what we were doing. However those three years were not that terrible after all. There were moments of joy, laughter, and most importantly moments of true friendship.
As C.S. Lewis said: “Isn’t it funny how day by day nothing changes but when you look back everything is different.” I think that in our case that’s true. Reminiscing all of our time together, I can’t help but laugh how young, excited and eager we
were in the first year. Our second year was harder and this year was full of applications and reading for the finals.
Yet, we made it and today, as we receive our diplomas, we’ll be heading towards our own paths. Some of us leave for university, perhaps abroad and some of us stay in Finland. We don’t know what the future may bring us, but we’ll face it when it comes.
There will be no more daily lunchbreaks together filled with great conversations or no more complaining of how tired we are, although I’m quite sure we’ll be yawning in the future too. We won’t be doing all the things together but I hope you’ll always know that no matter what, our friendship will last.
Congratulations class of 2016!
