Value of Life
What is the value of life? There are so many different perspectives and opinion about this broad topic that we will never be able to come up with one definition. The value of human life may always be a obscure curiosity.During the early era, life was not valued, humans treated other humans as slaves, they treated them like nobody. The life we obtained was already chosen for us, before birth no individual gets to decide who, what and where their life is going to emerge. life is very much different for every individual.The world that we live in is thousands of years old. “The courts started to put a dollar value on a life-after death” (Ripley). The government does not appear to care about an individual's life worth. Instead of being condolencing, It tries to replace human loss for money. How can a value of an individual's life be bought by money? After the attack of september 11 2001, the government begun a federal fund for the victims and their families. Ripley states that first, they “ figure out how much the victim from the incident would have earned for his salary and then subtract the money you get from life insurance, pension, Social Security death benefits, and worker’s compensation. After these “little” subtractions, you now have the total that you are going to receive from the government’s fund.”( Ripley ) I think all the victims and the families should be valued the same price no matter what. A rich person should be given the same amount of fund as a poor person should and a female should be given the same amount of fund as a male should. I believe life is too valuable to put in terms of money. Next, in Hamlet’s soliloquy, Hamlet ignored how his life had effected on his family and friends.
