Video Games
Video games, games a lot of kids play for fun and to escape from there world which might involve bullying. Lots of really good and bright kids have no intention of really hurting anyone. Take me for example, I play lots of video games black ops, modern warfare, call of duty and lots of other violent games, but me myself as a whole am not violent. A lot of people say that I am really nice. Of course while playing video games your adrenaline is rushing and you are excited and more alert but does that mean you are violent and a danger to others. Therefore I am strongly against saying that playing violent video games leads to violent behavior.

Video games get your adrenaline going and do make you a little more alert but does that automatically make you violent? A lot of people blame school shootings on violent video games, I think that what needs to brought to attention is the fact that a lot of kids are bullied so much that they don’t know what to do. What are you going to blame teenage suicides on? A lot of teenage suicides has to do with bullying. An article says “ Violent video games have been blamed for school shootings, increases in bullying, and violence towards women. Video game advocates contend that a majority of the research on the topic is deeply flawed and that NO casual relationship has been found between video games and social violence.”

Lots of kids play violent video games for fun. They play because they want to have a good time. An articles fact “ They found that the traits of aggression and stress were predictive of delinquent behavior and bullying and not the playing of violent video games themselves. Researchers also found that the parent involvement and parent/peer support seemed to be protective of these negative behaviors. As is is shown in the article violence is more expected of a child who does not do well in school or does not listen.

Violent video games also help kids who have bullied to blow of steam, to

I do not think that video games significantly increase violence in children enough to cause them to take another human’s life. I believe that these video games are purely for fun and kids can distinguish reality from fantasy. Even though studies show that children show aggressive behavior when they observe aggressive behavior I think that naming video games as the cause of mass shootings is unclear and very loose information. Everyone…

As a person who has been babysitting for about six years, I can attest to the fact that the children who played violent video games were more aggressive than the children who were interested in art or sports. Violent video games teach children that violence is acceptable and fun at the same time, have been proven to lead to aggressive behaviors in children, and also desensitize children. The violent acts depicted in video games are morphing the minds of young children, allowing them to think that gun violence and killing is a recreational…

In the United States video games and violence have become synonymous to each other. Some of the most popular games today tend to be the most violent. This has brought up the issue of video game violence and its relation to adolescent violence. Many argue that video game violence primes anger and aggressive thoughts in the individual using them. But research and proof of this argument has been limited, inconclusive, or contradictory which has brought up debate over the issue. Two scholarly research articles, “Video Games and aggressive thoughts, feelings, and behavior in the laboratory and in life.” by Craig A Anderson and Karen E Dill and “Video Games and Youth Violence: A Prospective Analysis in Adolescents” by Christopher J Ferguson, published in 2000 and 2010 respectively, debate this topic and discuss the psychological effects of violent video games on the user. The article by Anderson and Dill asserted that video game exposure increased aggressive traits long-term and short-term while the research article by Ferguson made the claim that outside conditions and factors such as personality traits, family environment, and depressive symptoms far better indicated increased aggression or youth violence than violent video game play. Both articles conducted their own studies in attempts to measure the correlation between video game violence and aggression level. However, Ferguson’s article had a more complete argument, accounting for more outside third variables, expanding upon data from previous conducted studies, and counter-arguing opposing studies and evidence against video game violence. Overall Ferguson’s article provided a stronger argument against video games causing violence and aggression, drawing upon more references and evidence, counter-attacking and pointing out flaws of previous research conducted, and analyzing numerous other factors.…

I would also take note on how the child conveys the aggression towards others, whether it is verbal or physical. Will there be a difference in behavior from the kids playing versus kids just watching? My studies look to answer these questions through the use of case studies and laboratory experiments because some people claim that violent video games are good for you, players believe that violent video games are cathartic. Other people claim that violent video games increase aggressive thoughts, angry feelings, physiological arousal (e.g., heart rate, blood pressure), and aggressive behavior. Violent games also decrease helping behavior and feelings of empathy for others. I can conclude that violent or nonviolent behavior really depends on the individual and their maturity level while playing video games. It is whether they can process and know what they are seeing is not real and that you cannot replicate those actions in real…

There have been many arguments that have been brought up arguing that violent video games are making kids more violent. Some arguments go as far as saying all video games are making kids more violent. However, the argument can go both ways. People have brought up that video games help kids with hand eye coordination and allow them to vent their frustrations. The earliest videogame has been around since 1958, and this game was a simple game that had no human and no violence in it. As technology became more advanced the videogames became more violent. Starting with a ball bouncing right and left in a videogame called Tennis for Two and ending with an incredibly violent video game that encourages killing other humans in Manhunt 2. There has been much research done on violent video games and their effects on kids, but no outcome has been decided yet.…
