A child learns from what they face and witness. If a child grows up in a place that is an abusive, neglectful environment, the child will learn to accept that in life. Most kids involved with violence come from families where there is a record of family and neighborhood violence. Dr. Christopher J. Ferguson, of Texas A&M International University, found that kids whose parents are psychologically abusive to their partners are to engage in violence. Poverty in a youths neighborhood can be directly associated with youth violence. Violence provoked by physical, violent behavior, and in poverty stricken homes and neighborhoods, violence can be witnessed daily. Latchkey kids, who roam the streets during the day, are subject to viewing hostility on the roads of where they reside. If teens are to observe violent crimes or follow neighborhood violence, they are to reflect those actions. Involvement in community organizations can help keep teenagers away from violence or crimes they may encounter in an abusive environment. There are many factors that one would look into when dealing with a troubled youth. Although violent video games could be a factor, a larger more dominant factor is domestic abuse. Parents are the key factor in shaping the social traits and trends of their child. The care and approval of kids by their parents is the most powerful influence on youth’s future decisions. A lack of such parental responsibility ends up to be one of the most frequently imitated forecaster of destructive behavior. How a parent reacts to situations and the atmosphere they make available for their family makes a better outcome than social media ever would. Undamaged families that lead their life out of high moral values produce less violent children than broken homes do, where their morals and principles are not
