Video Games Enhance The Lives Of Youths
The amount of children that have entered the world of video gaming has changed drastically, and not for the better. A child will not have a grasp on the perception of how to communicate with others in "real life". Video games shouldn't be a child's first "go to" when stressed out and spending too much time sitting, staring at a TV or computer means the child isn't spending enough time being active. Children are encouraged to spend at least 60 minutes out of a 24 hour day outside and video gaming is an addiction. One might say it's not until a parent sees that a child would rather sit inside and play video games all day than go outside and be active. Therefore, obesity and health problems are more likely to occur. This takes away from a child's physical ability by not playing outdoors, and giving them a nasty habit and calling it a "stress reliever". …show more content…
The passage "Video Games Enhance the Lives of Youths" states that "Games are a safe outlet to relieve stress and aggression" and that "researchers agree that children feel stress just like adults." Violent video games shouldn't be a factor in relieving aggression. A child is more prone to act out if he/she then gets told that they aren't allowed to play a video

A research was done in Singapore that showed that children were impulsive and unstable in controlling their emotions (Netzley 61). “They were also more likely to be socially incompetent” (Netzley 61). Children were to act more hostile due to their game addiction and were simply not as sociable. The children’s hostile acts are drawn from their addiction and the video games that they play. Their inquisitive minds are linked to the video games. A risk factor from the consistency of video games includes impulses (Gentile). Gamers have a sudden feeling to continue to play, not being able to restrain themselves (See Fig. 1). They act as if video games are the most important thing in the world and cannot get enough of it. “However, gaming can easily get out of hand, causing people to lose sleep, skip work, and otherwise shirk responsibilities when they cannot control their impulse to play games” (Netzley 59). Gamers tend to forget about their daily lives and shift their minds completely on video games. They act as if video games are the only things that are developed in this world, when they could be doing other things, such as going outside. Limitations are strongly needed to decrease these obsessive…

These life-like graphics and visual effects put the gamer right in the action, bringing joy to many while enraging numerous others. The way in which one views and understands the game’s contents is the way in which one perceives the video game. More often than not parents, who do not play video games, tend to focus on the negative aspects of the game, namely violence. The parents who are buying the video games for their children see only the cruelty and disgusting features making up only part of the whole. Most avid gamers would agree with the above statement, arguing the blood and gore is just a small part of the many aspects of some video games that complement the other components such as graphic quality and plot. The way in which one perceives an individual video game more often than not depends on whether or not the person is a gamer. The way in which some people perceive video games angers me because it seems as though they are over looking the big picture and viewing the game with a pessimistic point of view. By doing this, those people are doing themselves and the creators of games an injustice.…

I grew up in a household where video games were a privilege that I had to earn. When I had done all my homework and chores, I was allowed to play video games for an hour a day. As I grew older my parents thought I could make my own choices and did not limit the amount of time I spent playing video games. Many people today think that video games cause children to become couch potatoes, act dumb, and be rude. As a young child, my parents taught me that responsibilities come before the reward. That is why I have a different opinion of video games. I believe that video games can be beneficial to individuals; however, there are limitations. They help children deal with cancer, improve literacy skills, gain educational skills, and stay fit, but individuals should be cautious about the genre of the game and the amount of play time. When these precautions are taken, video games can be a helpful tool for many.…

Parents should ensure that their children know the difference between video games and real life. Many people believe that violent video games are a major cause of violent crimes. Several states introduced laws restricting violent video games which were then over turned in federal court. That suggests that the violence in video games doesn’t cause aggression.…

Another reason why you shouldn’t buy videogames to your children is because you are enforcing them to isolate from the rest of the society. Do you think staying home playing video games instead of exercising or spending healthy time with friends and family is good for your children? It is NOT good; it is only making them live in an inexistent world, where they look just the way they want. A world full of violence, an inappropriate stuff; because a fact is that 60% of middle school boys have at least one Mature-rated game. And actually I believe most of the parents know that video games are not good, but they still prefer to use the easy way to keep they’re children silent and entertained at the same time.…
