Vinegar as a Source of Battery
VINEGAR (ACETIC ACID) AS ALTERNATIVE BATTERY

Battery or more precisely, a cell – is a device in which the reaction between two substances can be made to occur in such a way that some of the chemical energy is converted to useful electricity. Since its invention, the battery has become the most common power source for many household and industrial applications. There are many ways to construct a battery, as well as ways to control its generated output.
This Home-made Vinegar Battery is a battery that is constructed out from simple components. Adding the vinegar with a strip of copper wire and zinc forms a simple battery. Low amperage devices, such as a digital clock and calculator can be easily supplied by this battery. Another good thing about this battery is that it is absolutely environmental friendly and it is much cheaper than the other types of battery. It does not contain any toxic that is hazardous and dangerous to human’s health and it is very easy to construct. fossil fuels do. And most especially, it does not have any effect in the ozone layers like the
It is considered as a renewable source of energy because it can be naturally replenished.
Vinegar is a liquid consisting mainly of acetic acid (CH3COOH) and water. The acetic acid is produced by the fermentation ofethanol by acetic acid bacteria.

General Objectives:
This study thru physics aims to find out that vinegar can be alternative battery.
-it is very convenient battery because the materials needed are only household materials.
-we can save money in this kind of battery.
-this is environmental friendly because it does not contain any toxic that is hazardous and dangerous to human’s health.
-it is easy to construct.
-and most especially, it does not have any effect in the ozone layers like the fossil fuels do.
We all know that the world is now facing an energy crisis and everyone is trying to do something about that. Now you can show everyone that electrical energy or electricity

The goal of the experiment that was conducted was to figure out both the molar concentration of NaOH and the standard mole ratio of the NaOH solution. In order to find the concentration of the NaOH solution, volumetric analysis was used. In volumetric analysis, a titration mechanism was utilized in order to find the reaction that the base will end up having with KHC8H4O4., also known as KHP. Phenolphthalein, which is the indicator that was used in this experiment, assisted in figuring out at exactly what point was there neutralization. The indicator turns the solution into a bright pink color once neutralization has occurred. In experiment 10, the average molarity of NaOH that was found in experiment nine was used in order to find out if the vinegar that was being used in the experiment contained around the same percent mass of acetic acid that is found in regular vinegar. The experimental value of NaOH that was used was 1.0425 grams and the molarity of NaOH was found to be 0.089 m/L of NaOH. Towards the conclusion of the experiment, the average percent mass of acetic acid was calculated and found to be 1.695%. Regular house hold vinegar’s average percent mass of acetic acid usually ranges to 4-5%. Based on the percent mass of acetic acid obtained in the experiment, the vinegar that was used in experiment 10 was clearly not house hold vinegar. The hypothesis for this experiment was, if the average percent mass of acetic acid ranged between 4-5%, then it is house hold vinegar. However, due to the results from the experiments conducted, this hypothesis was rejected.…

Fossil fuels are currently the most widely used source of nonrenewable energy in today’s society. These sources of energy are used to generate power for both commercial and personal use in a number of different ways. “In 2005, more than 3/4 of total world energy consumption was through the use of fossil fuels.” (Environmental Literacy Council, 2008) Oil, the leading energy resource depended upon to fuel everyday functions produces 43.4 % of our world’s energy. Natural Gas, the second most relied upon resource produces 15.6 % of the world’s energy followed by coal, which produces 8.3 % of the world’s energy. Unsurprisingly, North America is the number one consumer of nonrenewable energy resources, consuming approximately 25 % of the fossil fuels extracted from the earth. (Environmental Literacy Council, 2008)…

It works just like a regular battery except the electrolyte is damp dirt. And you get a quick recharge with each and every acid-rain. The first dirt batteries I made indoors in paper cups worked almost as good as commercial AA's, so I think the process is scaleable to larger amounts of power. I'm guessing that chaining about 32 of them in series would provide a steady 24 volts at a pretty decent amount of current. Maybe each cell would be 2 feet deep or so. Connect the copper of the first cell to the aluminum of the next, and so on. (Just like AA batteries in the radio) Since it's so simple I thought I'd post the idea in case someone had the stuff laying around and wanted to give it a whirl.…

A Fruit battery is a device used in experiments proposed in many science textbooks around the world. It is made by inserting two different metallic objects, for example a galvanized nail and a copper coin, into an ion bridge (for example a lemon, a potato or paper soaked in salt water or acid). The copper coin serves as the positive electrode or cathode and the galvanized nail as the electron-producing negative electrode or anode. These two objects work as electrodes, causing anelectrochemical reaction which generates a small potential difference.…

The lemon battery is similar to the first electrical battery invented in 1800 by Alessandro Volta, who used brine (salt water) instead of lemon juice.[5] The lemon battery is described in some textbooks in order to illustrate the type of chemical reaction (oxidation-reduction) that occurs in batteries.[6][7][8] The zinc and copper are called the electrodes, and the juice inside the lemon is called the electrolyte. There are many variations of the lemon cell that use different fruits (or liquids) as electrolytes and metals other than zinc and copper as electrodes.…

Many people are unaware of the daily negative impact they have on the environment. For example, the majority of the human population uses basic household products which contain toxic chemicals in their ingredients. It is most common that when people dispose of products they will either dispose of them in the trash or pour them down the drain of their sink. Unfortunately, “two-thirds of aquatic life is considered to be an endangered species because of improperly disposed chemicals and other waste…those chemicals are washed into rivers, which feeds waterfalls and then goes into the ocean” (Espinoza, 2014). This careless disposal of household toxic wastes is harming the ecosystem and contaminating water quality in a variety of ways.…

The creation of the battery was invented in 1859 by a man named Gaston Plante. Over the years as technology advances so do they batteries adding different materials like nickel, zinc, lead, graphite, carbon and toxic acids such as acid, magnesium dioxide, and hydrochloric acid making it one of the most helpful inventions known to mankind. Throughout our everyday lives a lot of things we use require a battery. The disposable battery converts chemical energy into electrical energy this is done by an anode the negative side, a cathode the positive side of the battery which are then placed in an electrical circuit making our television remotes, cordless phones, children’s toys, radios, cars and many more things function. Even though there are many different forms of batteries like AAA, AA, C or D they all have the same function. The battery has adapted into our lives as it makes our lives so much convenient and provides us the ability to make most of out of our electrical inventions using portable power. Since this product is in such high demands production companies keep producing and making money and we people keep consuming. But what happens to these batteries after their drained, we throw them out, and since not all of us recycle off to the landfill it goes. The problem that arises is consumers and producers fail to realize is how this product is damaging our environment because everyone is so caught up in the idea of making money and using modern day technology. Along with batteries come negative social impacts and how it leads us to the topic of global warming. Producing and consuming the rechargeable battery is in fact so detrimental to our world that toxic ingredients being used in this product are poisoning our water, polluting our air and contaminating our soil during the process of disposing and creating.…
