American citizens who are elitist and ignorant are numb to the real experiences that Latinos undergo. Somewhere south of the border, a man was just killed for trespassing enemy territory. Who killed him and what was the motive? The killer will remain the same; a member of a drug-cartel. However, the motive depends on the person you ask. The American citizens who have not been exposed to the topic of cartel-related violence will immediately respond that Mexicans are innately violent so killings such as this are expected from them. While the current social narrative is that Latinos are inherently violent, adopting a new economic perspective to this that accepts that violence is only a byproduct of capitalism will lead us to solve the…

Social disorganization and organized crime are both related. They are both aggravated and tolerated by corrupt and weak political officers. Criminal behavior and illegal activities abound for communities that lack strong social ties and have no solid grounds to combat common societal problems. Moreover, the lack of social control to resolve conflicts and attain progressive communal goals deteriorates the social and family structure that, in the end, converts into more serious problems of the community, especially organized crimes.…

Organized crime still exists in America today, and law enforcement agencies are still trying to find a way to eliminate their existence. Many of this organized crime is illegal operations that use legitimate business as a legal front. It’s considered a social institute because it has a hierarchy system because it follows a chain of command among its members. Empirical and Speculative theories developed to assist the police agencies to understand how the organized crime operates and how to deal with its existence. This paper will examine a social institution as it applies to organized crime and the empirical and speculative theories most…
The Almighty Vice Lord Nation is the second largest, and one of the oldest street gangs in Chicago. The gang has more than 30,000 African America members. Gang related violence in the United States has been a plague for the last several decades. The serious crimes such as murder, drug trafficking, extortion, assaults, and kidnapping can all be attributed to organized gangs. Of all the established and recognized gangs in this country, motorcycle gangs are among the most vicious and virulent group of criminals with no regard or respect for law enforcement or human life in general. Members of these organized clubs appear to be linked by a common bond and like interests.…
They have poisoned our streets with drugs, violence, and hateful crimes. I have researched many different kinds of gangs to motorcycle gangs like the “Hells Angels” to the prison gangs such as the “Latin Kings”. Why is there gang violence, how does it impact our daily lives, and how can it be prevented? Gang violence, is the most organized as a well sophisticated crime that comes into play here in America as well as other countries.…
On Tuesday, December 4, 2012 in the early afternoon when a phone call came into the Mount Vernon Police saying a woman was hurt at a residence on Beekman Avenue, the police responded to the residence only to find New York City and Yonkers, NY police officers already at the scene. As it turns out the call was placed by Lucius Crawford, the tenant of the basement apartment at the Beekman Avenue building. And the New York City and Yonkers police were there coincidentally to question Mr. Crawford about the DNA evidence that linked him to the murder of 37 year old Nell West that took place in the Bronx on October 20, 1993. She had been stabbed multiple times in the head, face and torso as well as having her skull crushed by a blunt object. Mr. Crawford was also a suspect in the stabbing murder of Laronda Shealy of Yonkers on September 13, 1993. However, what the police encountered in that home opened up a whole investigation involving the murder/attempted murder and/or assault of up to a dozen women in New York and South Carolina over a period of almost forty years.…
The issues in an immigrant-dense area of Anaheim area are gang violence and extortion in the community. Gang members are extorting money and threatening violence on residents in the area. Nevertheless, knowing that as immigrants, they aren’t comfortable with going to the police for help due to fear of deportation, however, they do not feel safe in their living conditions. Together gang violence and extortion are very relevant in the community because parents aren’t leaving their children without supervision, in fear of having their children join gangs or get caught in the hostile environment.…
The etiology of what has come to be the contemporary understanding and depiction of the word “gang” has a historical context set in the roots of psychology. For starters the term “gang” is where a group or collectivity of persons with a common identity who interact in cliques or sometimes as a whole group on a fairly regular basis and where their activities are similar from legitimate to criminal or even more (Sheldon 24). I point this out first because gangs socially control themselves right off the back by just having a common identity. They do distinguish by age, which also goes back to normally that’s where the cliques start because people tend to hang with people their age. Gangs control themselves by what type of gang they are, rather…
The United States has recently gone through some violence due to the controversy of ethnicity. For example, last week there was a shooting in Dallas, Texas where black male shoot different white oriented police officers killing five and leaving seven severely injured. It is the cause of many black males thinking their lives don’t matter due to white police officers killing them during their service. This is only one of many violent attacks to the law enforcement and it will only get worse. Therefore, our current government should get involved between the public and the law enforcement to stop this horrific violent behavior. If the government does not stop these actions more police officers or civilians could be killed and the situation might…
