Violent Crimes Should Be Tried As Adults Essay
Children (humans under the age of 18) who commit violent crimes should be tried as adults. Everyday children are arrested for violent crimes and only sentenced for a short period of time, but at the same time you are giving adults life in prison for the same crime. Sometimes the children only get about 1 year then letting them walk the streets again? Who knows if they are going to commit another violent crime.
According to the Justice Department about 10 percent of all murders are committed by children under the age of 18. Which is not a good thing, they need to learn that the path that they are on is not a good path, you can’t just let them sit in a juvenile detention center or jail for 5 months. Does that teach them anything? They need to

Children are often affected by their home life, which doesn’t give the right for them to take their anger out on other people. Sometimes it’s because they learn their ways from their parents, and how their parents act at home. These children obviously need psychological help and they aren’t getting it, and I think we need to better supply them that, so we don’t have as many children committing violent crimes at such a young age or even at all. The murder rate has gone up so much, and most of those murders are committed by young adults or children under the age of 18.
Some people may think that it’s fairly reasonable to give these children a less harsh sentence because the decision making part of brain isn’t fully developed, so they can’t differentiate what’s right from what’s actually wrong. I on the other hand believe that most of the time it’s teens committing these violent acts, and they have a pretty good understanding to know what’s right vs what’s wrong.
In conclusion, I think that Children under the age of 18 that commit violent crime(s) should be tried as adults. They need to learn their lesson and how their actions are unacceptable. They should be put in jail now, not after they are adult, they still have a lot of time ahead of them, they should learn their lesson now before they are sitting in jail for their whole

Historically, children have been regarded as constitutionally different from adults. This fact is evident in the way past cases have been decided. Certain juvenile characteristics such as their “ immaturity, impetuosity, and failure to appreciate risks and consequences” illustrates the clear discrepancy between children and adults. Furthermore, the majority contend that instances that call for punishment as severe as life imprisonment without parole will be exceedingly uncommon and rare. Requiring that all juvenile convicted of homicide are sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole regardless of age or other mitigating factors violates the principle of proportionality.…

Many people around the nation have different views on the subject of juvenile justice. Some believe that despite the children's age, they should still be tried as an adult if a serious crime is committed. On the other hand, some believe children should not be tried as adult even if they commit a rather serious crime. I firmly that these children should not be sentenced to life in prison despite the serious crime that they have committed and should have another shot at life when their brain is fully developed.…

Typically, juveniles who display a propensity for committing crime will continue to do so, even as they get older. Their crimes may even become more serious in nature. Therefore, teens that commit heinous crimes should be punished for their obnoxious behavior. In “Juvenile Doesn’t Deserve Life Sentences” by Gail Garinger, he states that “a juvenile doesn’t deserve life in prison because most teens haven’t reached their full maturity”.…

“Five years ago juveniles were being tried for shoplifting, now we have murders, breaking out car windows … it all ties into gang activity. Six to eight months ago, a juvenile I represented said he wanted to be in a gang, so he robbed an elderly woman.” Juveniles should be convicted as adults for violent crimes because when they commit a crime and don't get caught or have any consequences after, they are basically walking around our streets with no one to notice they are criminals. If they did it once, they can do it again and get away with it. A crime is a crime no matter what the age of the criminal, they need to be punished.…

This research paper will examine whether or not juveniles that commit violent crimes should be tried as an adult. Through research, I will establish an argument that children who commit the crimes of an adult should be punished as an adult. Data based on experience and observation detailing the number of juvenile offenders that are housed in adult prisons and jails, as well as the number of prisoners serving life sentences that were earned by committing violent crimes before the age of 15 will be included in this research paper. Finally, I suggest that children who commit crimes that are considered violent enough to even be considered for adult criminal court should in fact be tried in that very venue.…

A child learns when they are young from those around them. They don't automatically know what the right actions to take when facing a problem. If someone is growing up just seeing nothing but violence around them, they grow up to see that as something normal. They end up viewing it as something okay to do in their life. Many idolize and look up to those around there life. If a delinquent is nice and looks after a kid, then that kid will want to grow up and become that way. To their eyes it's the best person ever and they wish to become like them.…

There are multiple reasons that allow individuals to have their own opinions considering children and how they should be treated and tried in criminal cases. Many people today believe that teenagers should not be tried to mandatory life in prisons because their brains are not fully developed to make wise decisions which means they lack common sense. While others believe juveniles should be sentenced to mandatory life in prison because teenagers have plenty of common sense and at their age can identify right from wrong and are also aware of the consequences that they will encounter. I believe juveniles should not be tried to mandatory life in prison for their heinous crimes because they are still underdeveloped and are less mature compared to…

A movement has taken hold of our nation to change the juvenile justice system, and erase any distinction between young offenders and adult criminals. Almost all fifty states have changed their juvenile justice laws, allowing more youths to be tried as adults and scrapping long-time efforts to help rehabilitate delinquent kids and prevent future crimes. It seems to be plain and simple, a minor in this country is defined as a person under the age of eighteen. How then can we single out certain minors and call them adults? Were they considered adults before they carried out an act of violence? No. How then, did a violent act cause them to cross over a line that is defined by age? The current debate over juvenile crime is being dominated by two voices: elected officials proposing quick-fix solutions, and a media more intent on reporting violent crimes than successful prevention efforts. Minors should not be tried as adults in our society today. This is obvious through looking at propositions by our government such as Proposition 21, statistics on juvenile crime and also from specific cases where minors where sentenced in adult courts.…

Juveniles are considered juveniles and should be given juvenile punishment unless it's for something inhumane, such as murder. The United States of America has the highest teen murder rate out of every country. The reason is due to guns being easy to get, the amount of violence they see today, and the T.V. programs shown. The 2012 Supreme Court decision to abolish mandatory life in prison for juveniles who commit murder was not a just decision, because teens should know better. They're old enough to know murder is wrong. Our country should give teens the punishment they deserve for the crime they commit. Murder deserves a life sentence whether a juvenile or grown adult.…

A child is going to act like a child. They are immature and irresponsible, but when this comes to the point where they are being sentenced to life and placed in adult prisons, that is a punishment so horrific for even any crime. Juveniles who are placed in prison have no hope of having a normal life when they finish their sentence. Most would even be lucky to make it out alive. Even some of them will make their best efforts to protect themselves from the other inmates. Only because, “The fear of being victimized or assaulted produces a need for security, which leads many young prisoners to rely on gangs and weapons for survival. Young prisoners overwhelmed by feelings of helplessness and hopelessness cannot focus on changing their thinking and behavior, because they are focused on how to survive” (Prison is too violent for young offenders 2012). Placing the child in survival mode is not going to improve the behavior or the environment. As more children enter these prisons, older inmates tell them that what they are doing is right and that they must have done a good job. A juvenile shouldn't be around other people that will put more violent thoughts into their mind and make them want to commit another crime once they finish up their sentence. So all the court systems are really doing is adding more violent behavior to the…

A better question is are you willing to become a victim to a violent minor after he gets released early because his age. I am certain I would not want this to happen to me. Instead of setting these people free or putting them in a low security juvenile prison, we should put them where the belong, in a…
