The impact of violent video games in the minds of young kids is becoming an issue. Although it is not being stated that kids playing violent video games is the leading cause of violence and aggression in society. Nowadays, it is part of a daily routine for a majority of kids to sit in front of the TV to play video games for many hours. Parents may not be aware of what kind of video games their kids play or which ones they buy them. Behavioral, social, emotional, and many other issues may be developed. While kids play video games, they may not see the reality of what they learn or see in the game. Excessive passiveness in a developing kids is not healthy. According to studies, children need at least sixty or more minutes of exercise each day. Too much video game playing everyday, can lead kids to be socially isolated, not spending enough time with family and friends, sports, and other activities. As it was said before video gaming is a passive activity. If there is a lack of physical activity in children, they can develop obesity. Most video games require you to be sitting in front of the TV which may have you in an incorrect posture and kids may experience muscle pains. A report in Pediatrics, states that seven out of ten kids are Vitamin D deficient which is absorbed by exposure to sunlight. Kids also exhibit anxiety and depression. Both of these can affect them in school with attention problems, and having trouble with making friends, concentrating, etc. Although no studies in the United States have been conducted, there has been some in Great Britain and Japan. Studies showed that there was a 1.1 per 100,000 risk of possibility for experiencing a light-induced seizure (Shapiro).Many video games have a warning in them that playing it for long periods of time can have some bad effect (“APA…”). Although these warnings come in the packet, some parents are not aware of what their children are playing. Their ability to distinguish between fantasy and reality prevents them from emulating video game violence in real life.Research shows that
