She draws you in with a smile that makes you believe that she knows a secret that she will never tell. The subject sits in front of a background that looks to be a lush green valley with a lake that has a much higher water level on one side of her head than on the other. The background is sort of hazy, which was part of the renaissance style that da Vince himself created and others copied.
