“A man may take to drink because he feels himself to be a failure, and then fail all the more completely because he drinks. It is rather the same thing that is happening to the English language. It becomes ugly and inaccurate because our thoughts are foolish, but the slovenliness of our language makes it easier for us to have foolish thoughts” (Orwell, par.1). Orwell is pointing out how language is losing its power over time. However, Language has a relationship with power. Freedom of Speech is powerful in many ways; it helps people communicate with others as well to prove a point. Without freedom of speech the people would not be able to have power to speak their mind.
