A Virtue ethics is an approach to ethics that emphasizes the character of the moral agent, rather than rules or consequences, as the key element of ethical thinking. Not the same as Utilitarianism or Kat i.e. It is not so much a guide for moral decision making, more a description of the moral life. I think the main arguments against this statement are that Utilitarianism and Kat ask about “ How should I act?’, on the other hand, virtue theory asks “How should I live life?” and “What kind of person should I be?” It is interested in the whole person, not just their action.

rating of this item changed after reading this chapter? If so, in what way? If your rating has not changed, are your reasons for the rating any different now from when you first responded to this statement? I still agree this statement. Aristotle is concerned with action, not as begin right or good in itself, but as it is conductive to human good. I agree with him. So far we have been studied several theories guided us how to determine what it right and wrong. However, I think the most important thing is to look at the aim behind an action why a person to doing it, and what is the purpose for doing this. As we practice these acts, we come to realize that the virtue is good in and of itself. For example, a child is taught to tell the truth, by her parents, and he does so because they have taught him he should. I believe that everyone has ability to determine what he/she ought to do base on their character trait.
2. Hinman suggests that there are typically some gender differences in our society in regard to virtues such as courage and compassion. Based on your experience, do you think this is true? Are there any other virtues in our society that exhibit gender differences? Are there any vices that are valued differently in men and women? Are there reasons virtues and vices should be different for women and men?
I agree with Hinman suggests that there are typically some gender differences in our society in regard to virtues such as courage and compassion. In general, people would like to define that men are more courage, and woman suppose more compassion. Gender differences caused people have differences moral view on the decision. For example, a man and a woman were asked a question: the man’s wife was stick, and he can not afford the expensive cure for his wife, should the men steal the cure for his wife? The man say yes, because his wife’s life more important than anything but the women is irresolute, the reason is that her husband will go to prison by commit the crime and it may caused her situation badly. From this example we can see that men would like to measure the value of two sides then address a clear answer. However, women are more considered about the influence between two sides. According the philosopher Garol Gillligan concluded in her book “In a Different Voice: Psychological Theory an Women’s Development.” that women would talk about hurting others, or the benefits to others which lead them forward to what should they do to help others. That is the reasons for peoples usually say that women are more personal, partial, private, felling and compassion, but men are impersonal, reason, public and autonomy. However, when look at different situation, we also could find that women could be more courage. My friend is a mother has a baby girl, she recently told me that her husband was dreamed about earth quirk, the first reflection of him is cover her wife, however her first reelection is looking for her child. My friend said that she just realized first a woman became a mother she will do anything for her kid even take off her life. Although women and men have different on both emotion and standpoint, even moral view and these factors are the virtue ethics emphasized a virtue is a positive character trait.
3. Find a hero or role model who has been active in campaigning for the issue you chose to discuss in previous discussion forums. The hero may be real-life or fictional. Tell her or his story and discuss the virtue(s) most prominent in this person's life and accomplishments. Post a website for whatever film or book you refer to and include any organizations involved with his or her activity. Thought out the history of abortion, there are many cases lead it forward legalized abortion in American.
President Obama is the one who support abortion; he said “You want to make sure you’re still living in 2013. Forty tears after the Supreme Court affirmed a woman’s constitutional right to privacy, including the right to choose, we shouldn't have to remind people that when it comes to woman’s health, no politician get to decide what’s best for you.” (http://thecaucus.blogs.nytimes.com/2013/04/26/in-speech-to-planned-parenthood-obama-criticizes-new-abortion-laws/?_r=0 ) His virtue at this issue I view that he tried to enforce women’s right and the mean for Mr. Obama regulate this law is to help women have more options in such cases. However, when I stared to reach about the history of abortion I was impressed by other person George Tiller, (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/George_Tiller ) one of only a few doctors in the nation who performed abortion late in pregnancy, was shot to death. Some people said that he was a baby killer and deserted to die. In my opinion, a doctor’s are aim at health and he did provide his ability maintain his aim. He also aborted the long-term fetuses in cases that carrying the fetus to term would cause the woman in danger. The fewer abortion providers mean that women, particularly in the central United States, would have few if any options in such cases. I think that the courage of George Tiller has always insisted his jobs because he responds himself as a doctor there for provided healthy medicated
care.
