Visual Communication is the conveyance of ideas and information in forms that can be read or viewed. The subject includes Graphic Design, Illustration and Animation for; books, print, magazines, screen-based media, interactive web design, short film, design for advertising, promotion, corporate identity, packaging design AND MORE useless crap

Visual Communication is a form of communication that conveys a specific message to specific audiences through the means of words and type, images and other graphic elements and layout. Graphic design is a mixture of art and business. Taking an artistic vision and applying it practically within a world of planning, client needs, budgets and materials. All graphic design employs the theories of art, but its main purpose is to be useful and functional.

Advantages & disadvantages of visual communication
Advantages:
1. Effective over long distances 2. Can be used while moving 3. Fast -- speed of light 4. Effective in all directions (independent of wind) 5. Passive signals require no expenditure of energy Disadvantages: 1. Requires a clear line of sight 2. Visual signals may be intercepted by predators 3. Only effective in daylight (in fireflies, only at night) 4.
