It is located in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania at the “Liberty Bell Center”. It weighs 2,080 lbs and the circumference is 12 ft. It is made out of copper and tin. It cracked when it was rung after it arrived in Philadelphia, and was recast by local workmen named John Pass and John Stow and their last names are on the bell today. The bell got its large crack sometime in the 19th century. A story claims that it cracked while rung after the death of Chief Justice John Marshall in 1835. It became famous in 1847 after a story that an aged bell ringer rang it on July 4, 1776, from hearing of the second Continental Congress's vote for Independence. From the fact, the bell did not ring on July 4, the tale was accepted as a fact. The city let the National…

A few years after World War 2, the music genre Rock N’ Roll was created. It originated from Rhythm and Blues and Country. In the early 1950’s there was three musicians that joined the world of Rock N’ Roll. Their names were Little Richard, Chuck Berry and Elvis Presley. They each had their own style of Rock N’ Roll. But some individuals couldn’t decide who the true king of Rock N’ Roll was. In my opinion, Elvis Presley was the true king of Rock N’ Roll because, of his crazy dance moves, how he broke the social barrier between the black folk and the white folk, and today’s generation knows who Elvis Presley was.…

In The Cosmopolitan Canopy, the author, Elijah Anderson, discusses and describes public areas in the city of Philadelphia, where diverse groups of people can mingle and relax in peace, despite their differences. Anderson refers to these public spaces as “cosmopolitan canopies.” According to the author, who has lived and worked in different areas of Philadelphia for over 30 years, the city is more racially, ethnically, and socially diverse than ever and is full of “canopies,” which allows strangers to fearlessly interact with each other (Anderson, xv). The author provides a vivid description of the city as it would be seen on a walking tour, emphasizing the cosmopolitan canopies, as well as areas that could be classified as de facto segregation and usually experience more racial tension from visiting outsiders and other ethnic and social groups.…
Influence, the capacity to have an effect on the character, development, or behavior of someone or something. There is a good chance that most of us have been influenced by someone or something throughout our lifetime. We all offer the ability to influence, and to be influenced. In 2011 when I joined my school's marching band, I did not realize the influence it would have on my life by teaching me teamwork, self-discipline, time management, and dedication.…
When I joined the Bridgewater-Raritan program in August, I did not know what to expect. I knew that band was going to be hard work and a lot different than middle school. Personally, I think I have gotten more out of being a part of the program than I did in middle school, both with my skills and life lessons. I remember one of my first days when Mr. Markiewicz said that we would build an unbreakable relationship with our instrument. I have to admit that when he said that I giggled a little and said “yeah right” to myself. I hate to say it, but Mr. Markiewicz, you were right. I have grown to love practicing; I can feel my fingers responding faster, my air intensity increasing, and my mind becoming more alert whenever I pick up my clarinet. I can look back and see how much I have improved since the last note I played as an eighth grader, and I smile a little bit, knowing that this is only the beginning of my development in music.…
