Chapter I
Problem and Its Setting

Introduction

As the population rise here in our country, the accumulation of waste is also becoming a problem which is more difficult for the management to find a best solution. One of the issues is a rise in either biodegradable or non-biodegradable waste materials. The most common method for disposing waste material is on land, a process that can be observed in most countries and amounts to a high level of global municipal waste. Landfills are accepted as an appropriate means of disposal of waste material coupled with the practice of recycling solid waste. Whether enough effort is being invested in the most effective solutions for recycling waste material from landfills is an on-going question and pressure will continue to mount on how best to overcome long-term issue of reducing the volume of waste. The proponents decided to make a solution to this with the help of our improving technology comes up with an idea.

Background of the Study

First, our project is to bring automation in the process of splitting up and disposal of wastes. Through the ever improving technology presenting different kind of ways in controlling devices, technology made a way to make things easier for us. This robot will help our parents in a way of separating biodegradable and non biodegradable. It also help other garbage collectors or garbage men to dissociate trashes. All wastes that are to be disposed are grouped separately. It not only provides cleaner environment but also it brings in revenue to the organization taking it up.

Statement of the Problem

Does the robot can detect the non-biodegradable materials?
Does the robot can detect the biodegradable materials?
Can the robot be dependable to work alone without human help?

When the user fed the voice commands to the speech recognition module, the microcontroller interfaced to it reads the command and sends relevant data of that command wirelessly using transceiver module.
