Spending over two hundred thousand dollars a year, Wabash spends around thirty-two dollars per inmate each night. If Wabash were to think about expanding the jail to keep from these expenses than they would be able to worry less about going into debt. In the future, …show more content…
Pod stands for, “Principles of Database System”. Miami is able to use this system to monitor and observe the inmates every move. Whereas Wabash only has cameras in the hallways to monitor its inmates. By having this system, Miami has many more advantages when keeping their inmates maintained. Whereas in Wabash’s jail, it may be a little more difficult. Overall, I thought Miami’s Pod system was the most outstanding thing. This made Miami county more hands off and Wabash’s more hands on, which is not safe.
I personally thought Miami county jail was the better overall jail because it could hold more inmates, it was cleaner, and it had more space than Wabash’s jail. The Jail had no room whatsoever. They were sending inmates to other jails because they were too full, and spending money for them to stay there. Which is putting them in debt because they can’t afford it. Miami County is making bank off of Wabash Jail.

Wabash’s jail has some improving that needs to be done if they want to keep from being in debt. They should take into consideration that expanding the jail would eliminate daily costs to hold inmates. I am glad I was able to see and experience the difference between the two.
