The Sheriff’s administration overall runs the prison. This administration includes the Sheriff Keith McBrayer, the Chief Deputy David Foster, and an administrative group. In most jails, the Sheriff or local government is in charge. This one in Henry County validates that, as the sheriff is at the head of the prison administration.
While there are no privatized jails in Henry County, there is something known as a Jail Annex. The facility was first opened in 1979 and was known as the county jail. It was practically the original Henry County Jail. It functioned in all the same ways. It closed down in 1991 but later reopened in 2003 with the name Jail Annex which is now a major part of the jail. Today, it is a minimum security housing facility that only holds up to 84 people.
Although Jails are not seen as the most desirable places to be, they can be very beneficial to its inmates as well as the community. For example, the main purpose of a jail is to separate citizens from dangerous people. By doing so they are ensuring our safety.
