To be true to oneself is very important. Being true to yourself is self-reliance. People should be capable to do things, explained by this quote “Trust thyself: every heart vibrates to that iron string.” (Emerson) This self-reliance poem is explaining how learning on your own and should not follow others paths, but rather chooses your own. If you always rely on people you will fall behind in life. In the book Walden by Henry David Thoreau there was a quote stating “I did not wish to live what was not life” (Thoreau), also “when I came to die, I discovered I had not lived ” (Thoreau). These quote implied that he went on with life, he did not live it. “I went to the woods because I wished to live”, meaning when he didn't live his life, the woods helped him leave it to the last of his days. has inflicted me a lot, he has given me much of the courage I have today to stand up for myself and to do what I feel is right. He helped me understand no matter how hard something is, and how few there are doing it, if it is the right thing to do, you should do it. Giving up should never be your number one choice. It shouldn't be one at all. You should always push forward till you reach your destination. M.L.K J.R. was a strong willed man who has inspired so many young people of all races. No matter how big of a deal it was or even a simple kind act, it will always be impacted onto someone. And that is what he did to me, by fighting for the rights of young African Americans, he fought for the rights of all people, through self-reliance. He was true to oneself, he would push to get what he knew was right and try and try till he finally succeeded. He would have to be one of the best people who can represent to the people about self reliance and being true to
